hear 👂 listen to 👂 の違い

Hear も　listen to も　聞く　という意味ですが、全く異なった状況で使われます。

Hear は、自分からすすんで聞くわけでなく、勝手に耳に入ってくる、ような聞くです。

I heard the noise.
音(ノイズ)が聞こえた。
I heard the rumour.
噂を聞いた。

listen to は、自分からすすんで(望んで)聞く状態です。

I listened to the music.
音楽を聞いた。

I listened to my daughter talking about the night.
その日の夜について話す娘の言うことを聞いた。

1:I hear the sound of the rain.

2:I listen to the sound of the rain.

上の二つの文は全く異なった状況を示します。

1は、「あっ、雨だ。雨の音が聞こえる。」というかんじで、

2は、「雨の音に耳を傾けて聞く。」ようなかんじです。
